HSEQ  Manager

The Company
Kite Power Systems are developing an innovative technology to produce renewable energy from the wind. The company is based in Glasgow with test facilities in the south-west of Scotland.

Job Description
Responsible for all HSEQ matters.  You will report directly to the KPS Director responsible for HSE.

Role and responsibilities

  • Assess legislative requirements and develop policies and procedures, ensuring effective implementation
  • Review and apply a best practice Health & Safety Policy
  • Implement an Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and obtain accreditation under ISO9001, 14001 and 18001
  • Implement an Integrated Management Systems (IMS), audit against it and obtain accreditation under ISO9001, 14001 and OHSAS18001 or ISO45001 when this gets certified.
  • Review processes and procedures in line with the IMS
  • Lead and manage internal and external audits with regard to HSEQ
  • Provide incident review/near miss/accident reporting systems
  • Raise corrective actions and ensure effective corrective/preventive action is carried out
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure standards are maintained, identifying any areas for improvement
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations promptly and to a high standard
  • Attend HSE meetings and produce safety alerts/bulletins following incidents so that lessons are learnt
  • Present information for the monthly Board Report
  • Manage the Company training & development plan to ensure staff competency levels are maintained
  • Communicate new legislation and industry standards/initiatives across the Company
  • Monitor standards and provide appropriate advice to all locations
  • Management responsibility for the HSEQ Team
  • Support CDM2015 processes within the business
  • Provide input into the system design process with particular respect to PUWER and the Machinery Directive, supporting the design team with their responsibilities from CDM

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience working in a Senior Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management role
  • A recognised qualification in Health and Safety at a senior level with membership of a professional organisation at least at GRAD IOSH or equivalent or higher.
  • Hold a qualification in auditing Safety and Health, Quality and Environmental Management Systems
  • Ability to understand and interpret the requirements of the national and international health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Able to communicate and influence behaviour across seniority levels within an organisation
  • Familiarity with CDM2015
